Reward App Payout Report 2026: What 26 Apps Actually Pay

We analyzed payout methods and minimum cashouts across 26 popular reward apps. PayPal dominates, minimums are lower than you think, and browser access is now common.

Reward App Payout Report 2026: What 26 Apps Actually Pay

Most "best reward app" lists rank apps on vibes. We wanted numbers. So we pulled our own comparison data on 26 popular reward and get-paid-to apps and looked at the two things that actually decide whether an app is worth your time: how it pays you, and how much you have to earn before you can cash out.

Here is what the data says.

PayPal is still the default payout rail

Of the 26 apps we analyzed, 21 (81%) pay out via PayPal — making it the single most common rail in the category by a wide margin. Nothing else comes close to that level of support.

  • PayPal: 21 of 26 apps (81%)
  • Gift cards: 17 of 26 apps (65%)
  • Crypto: 9 of 26 apps (35%)

The takeaway for anyone starting out: if you want a payout method that works almost everywhere, a PayPal account is the safest first setup. Gift cards are widely supported too, but they lock your earnings to one store. Crypto payouts are increasingly common but still a minority, and they come with their own fees and volatility.

Minimum cashouts are lower than most people assume

The number that scares people off — "I have to earn HOW much before I see a cent?" — is usually smaller than expected. Of the 12 apps that publish a firm minimum cashout, here is the spread:

  • Median minimum cashout: $5
  • Average: about $7
  • Range: $1 to $30
  • 10 of those 12 let you cash out at $5 or less

The other 14 apps don't publish a single fixed number — their minimum varies by reward or by payout method. That's worth knowing before you sign up expecting one threshold and hitting another.

Browser access is now normal

You no longer need to fill your phone with apps to earn. 17 of the 26 (65%) work in a web browser, not just as a native app. That matters more than it sounds: browser-based earning means no app-store install, no storage used, and the same account on your laptop and your phone.

Where Playpot fits — honestly

We build Playpot, so here's the straight version rather than a sales pitch.

Playpot pays via PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Zelle, or gift cards, runs entirely in your browser (no download), and every payout is reviewed by a real person and sent within 24 to 48 hours. On payout flexibility and browser access, that puts it in the stronger half of the field.

The honest caveat: Playpot's $20 minimum cashout is higher than the $5 median above. That's a real trade-off. The upside is that the payout methods are broad and the review is done by a human rather than an opaque automated system, which is what keeps fraud reversals rare. If a rock-bottom $1 to $5 minimum is your single most important factor, some survey-first apps will beat us there — and we say exactly that on our comparison pages and reviews.

How to use this data

  • Want the widest payout support? Favor apps with PayPal, then add one that does your preferred rail (Venmo, Cash App, gift cards).
  • Hate waiting to cash out? Check the minimum before you sign up — 10 of 12 apps that publish one let you out at $5 or less.
  • Don't want more installs? Prioritize the browser-based options.

For app-by-app specifics, see our honest reviews, the full side-by-side comparisons, and our ranked best-of guides. And here's how cashing out works on Playpot.

Methodology: figures are drawn from Playpot's internal comparison dataset covering 26 popular reward and get-paid-to apps as of July 2026. "Minimum cashout" statistics use the 12 apps that publish a fixed threshold; the remaining 14 vary by reward or method. Payout-method counts reflect the rails each app publicly supports.
